personality: Barbara Gordon is many things to many people and under many names, wherein she does compartmentalize herself a bit.

• As herself, Barbara is a woman in her late twenties who, at first glance, doesn’t look all that intimidating. She’s relatively average height, if athletically slim. If you look slightly deeper, you will find out she’s the daughter of the Gotham Police Commissioner, who instilled an unwavering view of right and wrong and the necessity of helping those who can’t help themselves from a young age. Though it’s rare to hear anyone bring up, Barbara suffered a spinal injury at 17 years old, which took away her ability to walk for several years before an experimental treatment gave her back the ability to walk. Refusing to slow down even during those terrible years, Barbara turned her passion to learning and helping inward and outward in new ways.
  
  Barbara is brilliant, with an eidetic memory, genius-level intelligence, two degrees (in law and forensics science), library science graduate hours, and owns a green energy plant. She worked for Code Enforcement for Gotham City and as an assistant to Congresswoman Luciana Alejo. She’s also recently jointly received the key to the city of Bludhaven with Dick Grayson for work done in their creation of The Alfred Pennyworth Foundation and the implementation of the city programs from it.
  
  On a one-on-one level with someone who has just met her, Barbara is warm, polite, and discerning. She has a dry sense of humor, though she’s often told she can be a little too serious and a little (OR A LOT) too much of a workaholic.
  
  
• As Batgirl, Barbara is the one member of the Bat Family whose origins do not start in trauma, death, and worse: Barbara Gordon was inspired by her father’s words (and the work of Batman) to take to the streets and do what her father’s laws could not do fast enough. As Batgirl, Barbara was brought into the Bat-World at the age of 14, working at the first Robin’s side.
  
  In the years since Barbara declared herself Batgirl (and refused to go home, no matter what Batman said), she’s become a stalwart team and family member. She’s been a member of the Justice League, created her own team, and trained two girls to carry her legacy mantle of ‘Batgirl.’
  
  Barbara’s teenage spinal injury came from being shot by the Joker, and Barbara knows the extent to which she risks every time she puts on her costume now. If her experimental neural implant were to malfunction or be damaged, she could become paralyzed or suffer brain damage. It has before, and she knows it will again. It exists with limited time potential. Barbara is fearlessly dedicated to fighting for good, so much so that in one fight, she had to dig out her neural implants with her own knife to keep a villain from using her body or knowledge against others.
  
  As Batgirl, Barbara has been on the following teams: Batman Family, Birds of Prey, Justice League, Suicide Squad, and Seven Soldiers of Victory
  
  
• As Oracle, Barbara is ‘the ghost in the machine’ for all of the heroes of their age. During the time between Barbara’s shooting and her experimental treatment, Barbara could not simply sit by and watch the world move on. Looking to continue to fight even in her current circumstances, Barbara became a world-class hacker and an information broker, donned the Oracle identity, founded the Birds of Prey, and became the nameless, faceless helper of heroes all over the world.
  
  Despite regaining her mobility and returning to the streets of Gotham and Bludhaven, Barbara maintains both identities. She is one of the stalwart street defenders of her homes and the "guy in the chair" for every hero who has found themselves in a situation they can’t just punch their way through.
